Open source refers to the fact that Drupal, a widely-used content management system (CMS), is developed and maintained by a global community of contributors who freely share their code. Being open source means the Drupal software is free to download, use, modify, and distribute without any licensing fees. This model encourages collaboration and innovation, allowing developers, designers, and other community members to contribute improvements, new features, and bug fixes.
Getting involved with Drupal is relatively easy. Anyone, regardless of experience level, can participate by contributing code, submitting bug reports, offering design input or help with documentation. Because of its collaborative nature, Drupal is continually improving, with the community working together to make it more powerful, stable and user-friendly.
We, at Calibrate, strongly believe in this collaboration and have contributed many modules towards Drupal and co-maintain other modules that we think are very valuable.
